The “UAEC Way”
UAEC’s General English Program is a complete program intended for English learners who need to use English to interact with English speakers on an everyday basis.
The program instructs students in English grammar, English conversation, listening and speaking skills for daily life, and reading and writing skills for social and employment purposes.
At the higher levels, students learn to apply their knowledge and skills in more diverse and work-oriented types of situations. When students complete the program, they are ready to pursue English study in a particular employment area.
Our English program gives you the flexibility of combining your other obligations with high-quality courses in academic and professional English. If you are a working adult, an English learner studying in another field beside English, or a mother with small children, this is the program for you!

Mission Search is keen on hiring native English teachers for its centers. Having a native English language teacher in class makes a big difference in terms of assisting students in mastering all the five language skills i.e Grammar, Reading, Speaking, and Writing. At the end of each level, the student will receive an end level certificate bearing his or her final grade and passing mark. A program completion certificate or diploma will be given to those who successfully completed all the four levels.
- Mandatory 90% attendance to graduate to the next level:
A variety of studies in the field of foreign language learning have stressed the fact that class attendance is crucial for a better outcome. Moreover, daily practice is a key to success for language mastery. Therefore, we encourage students to daily participate in class activities and interaction and to be eligible for the next level.
- ILETS & TOEFL Examination readiness:
We strive to assist students in taking some of the international examinations and tests such as the ILELTS and TOEFL, and NCLEX . These exams require rigorous and intensive preparation and practice. Our teachers will work with you side by side in order to succeed and overcome all sorts of language difficulties. NCLEX is an exam preparation for nurses willing to get an international license. All these sorts of exams require a high level of English competency.
- Medical English after level 4:
Upon request of our clients, we can offer a semester of Medical English and Medical terminology. Completing the 4 levels prior to that is a vital pre-requisite as such courses require advanced level of English and communication.
- US Medical License Preparation:
This is an intensive course(s) geared towards preparing students for the US Medical License in order to join the American universities in the field of medicine. It is a vital exam that might help doctors as well willing to take more training and seminars or workshops in America.
The English Language Excellence Programs :
The General English Program consists of five (5) levels and they are as follows:
Level 1. Preparatory: (Prep.)
This course welcomes newcomers to the English language and introduces them to the most fundamental elements of English through exposure to rich, meaningful language—the letters of the alphabet and their related sounds, the ability to write the alphabet, basic punctuation and capitalization, and the basics of sentence structure. Students will develop the ability to engage in very basic listening and speaking tasks they will encounter in daily life, such as understanding and answering questions about their address, nationality, marital status, date of birth, and daily schedule and activities. They will also begin to ask and answer questions about the weather, clothing, food preferences, meals, prices, locations, means of transportation, types of housing, illnesses and types of medications and healthy habits.
In addition, this course will cover the English language basics. It will develop students’ basic reading, writing, and listening, and speaking skills within an educational environment where English is the means of communication. This course meets the needs of English learners who have little or no English language training. In this course, you will receive a thorough introduction to the English sounds as well as its basic vocabulary and grammar. In the classroom you will focus on learning about the American culture and how to survive in it if you get a chance to be there, and you will often relate to your own culture and heritage.
The main textbook is supplemented with a computer program as well as a workbook. The supplement audiovisual program is a dynamic learning program that enables the user to learn the English language naturally in the same manner as he/she did with his/her native language. The American Headway workbook reinforces all lessons learned within the student book. We will also be using worksheets as supplemental material. The key element of success in this level as well as all the other levels is ¨practice¨. Therefore, you should not give up practicing the language and try to use it as much as possible in and out class.
By the end of this course, students should be able to know the basic rules of grammar, and gather a considerable amount of vocabulary that would allow them to comprehend basic reading texts and formulate correct sentences. Students will also be exposed to basic rules of writing and would practically be able to know the mechanics of writing from sentence level to small paragraphs level. As far as speaking is concerned, students will be able to comprehend basic sentences and utter correct sentences using the vocabulary and materials they had been exposed to in class. Students will learn to read and write what they are able to comprehend and say. Instruction at this level focuses on the here-and-now and on students’ immediate surroundings and needs. Classroom activities include paired interactions, role-plays, and simple problem-solving activities involving team-work. The four language skills are taught in an integrated fashion that mirrors their use in social and work contexts. Students learn functional language in order to carry out real-world tasks relevant to their daily life.
At this early stage and level, the language skills you practice in class will help you carry out all the activities you need to understand the real world of the U.S. and how people deal with each other in their daily life. You’ll be having basic conversations and doing role-plays with other students and solving simple problems on a team. By the end of the course, you’ll also be able to read, understand, and fill out basic forms. Not only that, but you’ll be able to ask simple questions while you are doing role playing such as in shops and offices and understand the answers people give you. You’ll be able to answer the questions they ask you. You’ll also have your first experiences taking tests that look like university tests and doing homework!.
Level 2. Elementary: (Elm.)
This course is designed to empower students by providing them with elementary vocabulary and grammatical rules. At this second level of their English study, newcomers expand their vocabulary dramatically through exposure to rich, meaningful language used in real world contexts. Students begin to be able to use their new language creatively and no longer have to rely only on memorized phrases. Students improve their knowledge and ability to use the basics of word order and sentence structure. Students also learn to create their own sentences, using the simple present, present continuous, and imperative in their affirmative and negative forms and continue to develop both yes-no and WH interrogative forms. With the addition of adjectives, adverbs of frequency, the structure ¨want to¨ plus infinitive, and the modals ¨can¨ and ¨should¨, students are able to share more detailed information about themselves, their family relationships, and other people in their lives.
They will also gather and learn more vocabulary terms and be able to develop their reading ability and comprehension. They will also be exposed to more listening exercises and will be working in pairs and groups to generate more dialogues and enrich class activities. AS far as writing is concerned, students will be exposed to small paragraph practice using the correct punctuation and spelling. The teaching materials will be focused on the American Headway student book as well as the workbook in addition to supplementary audiovisual programs and handouts. Small conversations with peers as well as the teacher will boast the students´ ability in speaking and imitating native language speakers.
By the end of this level, students should be able to use elementary basic English language structures. They should also be able to use elementary grammar rules, use correct utterances, and develop their skills of critical thinking. Students will learn to read and write what they are able to comprehend and say. They can send an email and fill out simple forms independently. Instruction at this level continues to focus on the here-and-now and on students’ immediate surroundings and needs. Classroom activities include paired interactions, role-plays, and simple problem-solving activities involving team-work. The four language skills are taught in an integrated fashion that mirrors their use in social and work contexts. Students learn functional language in order to carry out real-world tasks relevant to their daily life.
They should be able to start using complex sentences and formulate understandable basic conversations and dialogues. As far as writing is concerned, students will be able to write and generate more than a paragraph using more vocabulary and terms they have acquired.
Level 3. Intermediate: (Int.)
The intermediate level course aimed at reinforcing basic language structures, expanding topic vocabulary and building confidence in speaking and writing. The course is also intended to introduce students to textbook material in preparation for more practice and language exams using the main textbook as well as the workbook and the interactive audio materials and handouts.
The course is organized around a variety of material and is supplemented by a self-study computer application aimed at developing students autonomy and building up their ability to create nice and correct pieces of writing using more complex sentences and sophisticated vocabulary and terminology. Most of the writing components will be based on the class activities while some of them will be generated from the main course textbook as well as the workbook. At the third level of their English study, students expand their vocabulary and grammatical knowledge in ways that allow them to comprehend and express more detailed, elaborated messages. Students are able to use their new language creatively and construct their own messages. They have a good grasp of affirmative and negative word order and a better ability to use interrogative structures. They are able to participate in more extended conversations about their family and their daily lives. Students are also able to engage in a wide variety of transactional situations, find the information they need, and interact independently so they can carry out the functional tasks of everyday life. Students learn to read connected discourse on familiar topics and write what they are able to comprehend and say. By the end of the course they are able to fill out a variety of forms and applications and send longer, personal email and written letters. At the third level of their English study, students continue to expand their knowledge and ability to use a wide variety of vocabulary and grammar so that they can express themselves with more precision and elaboration than at previous levels. Instruction at this level no longer focuses on the here-and-now and on students’ immediate surroundings and needs, but on their past, present, and future experience of the world. Students can now speak at length about past experiences and events, make plans for the future, discuss obstacles to these plans, and develop possible solutions. They can compare and contrast information presented in charts, graphs, diagrams and short readings in order to make choices. They can participate in extended conversations about their daily lives as equal participants and begin to use their language to engage in common communicative functions, such as thanking, apologizing, inviting, agreeing and disagreeing, making suggestions, and giving advice. Students learn the skills necessary for participating in more formal types of oral interactions, such as a job or college interview and practice these skills during simulations.
Students are also exposed to oral and written texts of increasing complexity and work on developing the ability to interpret and react to authentic real- world language. They begin to produce more formal, short, functional written texts, such as a cover letter or complaint. Classroom activities continue to include paired interactions, role-plays and more involved simulations. Problem-solving activities at this level involve the use of all four language skills, critical thinking, and a jigsaw organization which forces students to rely on each other. Students take part in experiential learning activities which involve them in interactions with other students. The four language skills are taught in an integrated fashion that mirrors their use in social and work contexts. They also learn language related to the work place and job skills and habits. Instruction at this level begins to move toward past and future experiences. Classroom activities include paired interactions, role-plays, and more complex problem-solving activities involving team-work.
One of the main objectives of this course is to help students improve their English language skills in order to obtain the required amount of vocabulary and terms to be able to study in an English-speaking country or properly communicate with other people using English as a medium of communication. Therefore, by the end of this course, students should be able to master more grammar rules, be able to comprehend and use more complex sentences, English modals and syntax, as well as engaging in lengthy conversations and dialogues about present, past, and future experiences. Students will be able to comprehend and critically talk about lengthy reading texts and passages. They will also be able to write multi-paragraphs assignments and share more ideas with their teacher and classmates. They are also able to engage in transactions in a wider range of situations and function more independently in the areas of shopping, finding housing and furnishings, dealing with health care personnel in doctor’s offices and the hospital, and finding out about and taking advantage of the resources offered in their community.

Ready to Write, Longman: While using this book as well as other assigned materials, students at this level will be fairly competent with the 4 basic language skills (grammar, reading, writing, and listening & speaking), but need to reinforce basic language structures in dialogue and their application in relation to achieving the standard required for the international exams. The teacher will play a crucial role in monitoring individual student progress throughout all levels.
Level 4. Advanced: (Adv.)
This course will prepare students for the transition from the level of the classroom to the workplace and what it requires as far as language proficiency is concerned. It will enhance and refine students’ grammar, reading, writing, and listening & speaking skills within a nice and pleasant school environment. It is supplemented with a computer program as well as a workbook. The audiovisual program is a dynamic learning program that enables the user to learn the English language naturally in the same manner as he/she did with his/her native language. The workbook reinforces all lessons learned within the student book. We will also be using worksheets as supplemental material. Students at this level will e exposed to more complex grammar rule and syntactic structures. They will also be exposed to more sophisticated vocabulary terms and lengthy reading texts, articles, and passages. At the fourth level of their English study, students develop strategies that will help them become more self-directed and independent English learners. They learn ways to improve their English language learning by participating in group-class activities and they keep learner logs which help them track those activities. In the classroom again, they learn and practice strategies for guessing word meaning from context while reading and listening to authentic real-world texts. Other strategies for learning and remembering new vocabulary involve learning word families as a way of seeing the relationships between words and using a learner’s dictionary. To deepen their reading comprehension, students learn the strategies of previewing before reading, reading for main ideas during their first reading, and scanning for specific information during their third reading. Students also learn and practice the strategy of making inferences (reading between the lines) during and after reading. In writing, students continue to practice filling out increasingly complex applications, such as applications for loans, writing formal business letters, and providing the necessary supporting documents. In addition, at this level, students begin to learn how to produce connected written discourse, starting with paragraphs that have a strong topic sentence, good supporting sentences and a final conclusion sentence. Students also learn how to produce connected oral discourse by giving short oral presentations as part of a team. In this way, they begin their introduction to the kinds of academic tasks they will need to perform if they decide to pursue postsecondary study. At this fourth level of their English study, students receive an in-depth introduction to the world of work place and to work-life connections. They will first be introduced to the process of getting hired, and will learn strategies for how to read job postings, identify the skills and characteristics needed for certain job categories and the job responsibilities, conduct a job search, fill-out a job application, write a resume, an e-mail cover letter and follow-up e-mails, and prepare for a job interview.
Students become familiar with the specific terminology used in these areas and the grammatical structures which permit the expression of hypothetical situations and more abstract ideas. Students continue to develop the strategies they learned in the previous course which help to facilitate their comprehension of speech and written texts. In addition, at this level, students practice producing longer multi-paragraph written texts by learning about the introduction, body, and conclusion, and they use the same pattern of organization to produce and present longer oral presentations, in the form of individual speeches. Classroom activities continue to include paired interactions, role-plays and more involved simulations. Problem-solving activities at this level involve the use of all four language skills, critical thinking, and a jigsaw organization which forces students to rely on each other.
Finally, in the area of functional life skills, student will become familiar with basic elements of American life, such as making goals for the future, managing one’s time and personal finances, applying for a job, and volunteering in one’s community to make it a better place to live. Students learn and practice the vocabulary related to these topics and become familiar with grammatical structures that allow them to think and talk about hypothetical life situations and events. Classroom activities continue to include paired interactions, role-plays and more involved simulations.
By the end of this course, students should be able to master advanced grammar rules and syntax. They should also be able to use more advanced vocabulary and comprehend complex paragraphs and reading materials. As far as listening and speaking are concerned, students will be able to engage in lengthy conversations and dialogues. They are also supposed to develop critical thinking and be able to write detailed reports and presentations.
Level 5. Advanced Conversation & Communication: (Adv. CC)
This is an extra level that aims at enhancing conversation ability as well as projecting confidence during the communication process. Students will learn to communicate in a clear and effective manner while building confidence in their English speaking ability. They will be placed in new and awkward scenarios designed to stimulate and encourage new methods of communication. There is also a wide variety of conversation activities designed to increase vocabulary, fluency, and body language skills. Students are expected to be open and flexible with regards to these new scenario, themes, and activities. Teachers will ask students to engage in real conversations and discussion regarding different cultural and social themes and topics.The course is also supplemented with a computer program. The audiovisual program is a dynamic learning program that enables the user to learn the English language naturally in the same manner as he/she did with his/her native language.
This final course of the General English Program is more content-based than previous courses and provides students with the kinds of information they will need in order to function successfully and comfortably in the worlds of community, home, education, and work. One of the key areas addressed in this course involves students in discovering their individual learning styles and finding ways to connect these learning styles to their career and educational paths. Students learn various techniques for establishing and prioritizing goals and ways to stay motivated while working towards those goals. Students also participate in discussions about work-life balance and learn strategies for maintaining this balance. Another key area addressed in the course is personal opinion and ethical stand in regard to various political, social, and economic topics and situations. In other words, they will develop the ability of identifying what is right and what is wrong, or what is good and what is bad. The third key area relates to the workplace and ideas for creating an efficient and pleasant atmosphere. First, students learn about various ways of finding and setting up organizational systems at work to increase workplace efficiency.
The course ends with a discussion of freedom of speech and student presentations of individual opinion speeches. Because so much of the content of the course is concerned with real-world issues, the students will spend much of their class time together outside the classroom, observing, discussing, and evaluating what they have seen. In the classroom, students learn academic skills they might need during future training programs or advanced study and they practice those academic skills while they are out in the community listening to talks by business people, local officials, civic groups and researching additional information. In the classroom, they continue to improve their functional abilities in English and review and practice the strategies they have acquired throughout the program that will help be life-long learners of English.
By the end of this course, students will be able to show a high level of language proficiency and be able to engage into more complex discussions and debates regarding various topics. They will also be able to use more sophisticated word choice and vocabulary. Students will actively participating in daily classroom activities and group activities and prepare professional reports and presentations. Students will be taught and trained in the domain of public speaking.

UM6SS American Language Center offers upon request (with additional charges) customized English and tutoring options for specific academic, professional, and social purposes and for students seeking to increase their English proficiency test and academic standardized test scores. Customized English courses and tutoring sessions are available for individual students and groups. These courses and sessions are delivered at times that fit with an individual or group’s schedule to give students the flexibility of combining other obligations with high-quality courses and instruction.
Customized English courses and tutoring sessions for English language purposes are designed to target the individual needs of students or groups by providing instruction that will increase their English proficiency skills in the areas of reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar, and vocabulary for general or specific purposes. For English proficiency testing, students are given the test strategies and skills necessary to be successful on their English proficiency tests.
